The early exit at the end of Jay's is becoming extremely wide and blown out. A fence is needed to direct riders to the proper exit. Please go have a look, it's getting worse every week.

This really is a situation, the new volunteer exit is now the normal way out at the end of Jay's. It's getting wider and more blown out as the months go by.

Looks like it has been smoothed out a bit... If you are talking about the exit that is about 25 yards from the main exit.

Yes Rob that is the spot. It needs to be fenced off so riders are forced to use the proper exit thus avoiding potential collisions with Ridge Trail user's

I kinda liked the technical exit till someone knocked it all down and made it a high speed ramp.

Jared and the Trail crew have reworked Petes and Jays. I have not ridden it yet but it should be much better now.

The trail crew eliminated the original jays exit and the uphill volunteer exit is the new exit.

The trail crew eliminated the original jays exit and the uphill volunteer exit is the new exit. Not sure if that is a safe exit from Jay's as it dumps you right into the intersection of Ridge rd and Okie Hill. As before it would gently dump you into a flat section of Okie. Oh well, no going back now...

Good point. I'll check what we have for signage so that we can at least alert riders of the merge. I'm thinking a traffic merge sign or slow sign on Ridge and at the end of Jays might help. I'll check it out this afternoon.

Groups of riders tend to congregate at the end of Jay's while waiting for the stragglers to catch-up. The original exit allowed for this without interfering with Okie Hill or Ridge. I'm not sure where this went wrong, but my original post suggested the opposite action be taken?

I think there will still be room for congregating riders with the new exit. I also think that its a bit safer for riders to wait a bit further up from the top water bar on Okie hill so riders coming up Okie dont have a group right as they crest the final water bar. If the new exit does prove to be a problem we can always address it again in the near future. If possible can you check it out on a weekend and let me know how it goes?

Being dumped out at the new exit will make riders turn right (wrong way) to congregate at the waiting spot. There just isnt the room to the left at the new spot.
Scott, if you are there Sat, well go up and look at it.

We/you need to seriously re-visit the decision made at this trail merge. It's a flat out dangerous situation the way the exit has become a large jump with riders exiting the trail airborne onto the Ridge. Today a rider launched so far he ended up 30ft down the steep hillside across The Ridge Trail. "Harry" was not hurt, but he was very lucky as the slope gets much steeper the next 60ft down to Peets Path

I agree. Concerns were voiced about this new exit, and were ignored. Scott and Wes need to consider the opinions of the riders that are out there ALL the time and can see what is happening. We now have a recorded event of the problem there, and maybe the old out will be reopened. Remind me again, why was it re-routed in the first place?
