OK, I have been spoiled yet again by the blue groove at Lodi. And by comparison, our track these days is pretty bad.
I've been watching how they make this happen up there, and I've seen them create a near perfect track in as little as four hours.
True, they use about six pieces of equipment, with as many as four at a time, but the basic process is pretty much the same as we use down here. Grade, water, wheel pack.
One thing different is that they drag the track. The objective is to crumble the high spots without really touching the lows, and to leave a uniform cushion about two inches thick. Water then gets an even shot at all parts of the soil, and the hard pack shows up with an even thickness. Bumps are erased.
They use a backhoe to pull the drag, since it has to be done with moist soil, and truck tires would only spin.
Using our present methods, and according to Chris, it takes about three days repeating the 'grade, water, pack' process to build a sustainable surface without those annoying braking bumps.. But I offer the suggestion that a backhoe tractor pulling 2-inch teeth could shorten that to one afternoon.

I see there has been work done. And there were only three serious riders today (7-18), so thank you very much. Please remember that our TT track is always very thirsty.
