TT 2-28

In conversation with (new) Chris today, the "Tree Corner" came up as the problem child of the TT track. It soaks up water, and it lives in shade, so it most often presents an unexpected problem with traction. Past water truck operators (Gene, and Chris) have learned not to over-wet this area, but Almighty God does no such discrimination in His distribution of rainfall. To cure this, it was suggested that some kind of soil amendment, in that one area, might help to homogenize the traction.
Chris and I puzzled over sand, aggregate, and loam. And his most interesting observation was that you can easily put water in, but you can't take it out.
Given the shade, and the water collection capacity of this 20-yard stretch, it seems reasonable to amend the soil in that one little spot. Chris, and Chris, and I must defer to some kind of civil engineer, or maybe environmental scientist, to evaluate the optimum mixture. But given the recurring problem this little stretch gives us, maybe we could tax a few highly educated brains for some kind of recipe.
Soil mix is the last hope. Grade has been dealt with for years.

I don't think any kind of sand or different mix of soil would last very long. The only long term way I know of to help that turn is to rock it and pack it in. But then you potentially have loose rocks in a corner tripping people up. I will pose the question to the group and see if any ideas come up.

Thank you, Wes. It only seems to be the problem child in the wet, anyway. From today: (Thurs. 3-12) all is good. My crabby cohorts would request water late Friday, and a spritz early Saturday. They want GNC conditions for 5 bucks. Hee hee...........

TW16 still watching the TT track.... My expert informants say conditions were perfect about 9:30 to 10:30 on Friday. My own evaluation from Saturday morning is: very good. As a practice track for races elsewhere, the TT is really helpful. Imua! (That's Hawaiian for "Go for it!")
