There is a large imbedded rock after the last water bar that has caused a few crash's that I know of. It's like a magnet for the front wheel. Maybe the next grading will unearth it, but being a green easy trail this rock poses a threat. In general most of the water bars on Harmony have very sharp edged pot holes that the grading will improve. I'm speaking of the beginning flat canyon portion of Harmony Gate only, not the uphill climb out.

It will be grading a few times this season, and we are going to try something new, using a large compactor which should help with potholes. We are on pace for it to be the driest year since 1849(when they started recording). Which has hampered our maintenance work.

I see Lower Field Rd is graded. What can the compactor do for the new chunkiness...(is that a word)? We will need to do a rain dance.

We used the a bobcat attachment and rolled parts of lowerfield which helped in some areas but it was too dry in others and our additional watering can only do so much.
If all goes according to plan, in January we will be renting a large construction grade compactor with a vibrating roller to follow after the grader. If the moisture is right, we should be able to smooth out all the clumps.
